At Intranet Connections, we spend a lot of time talking about the connection between people, teams, and information. But behind every connected workplace is leadership that intentionally creates clarity, trust, and alignment. We’re beyond excited to share that our Chief Growth Officer, Kal K. Sahota, was recently featured in CanadianSME Small Business Magazine’s She & Success Series.
Kal’s conversation with the CanadianSME team explored leadership, distributed work, and why human connection is becoming even more important as technology and AI continue to evolve.
Throughout the interview, one theme remained consistent: strong organizations are built through trust, clarity, and intentional communication.
Reflecting on leadership experience across financial services, SaaS and now in her current role with us here at Intranet Connections, Kal shared that while industries evolve, the foundation of successful teams remains remarkably consistent. Creating an environment where people feel safe to contribute their ideas and challenges is critical when it comes to healthy leadership.
The interview also explored the importance of investing in people, not simply expecting results from them. Communication, shared accountability, and ongoing connection turns plans into momentum which ultimately leads to productivity.
Having led remote and distributed teams for more than a decade, Kal also shared her perspectives on building trust and accountability across teams that may never share the same office space, which is the reality of modern work. As organizations continue to become more distributed and information becomes increasingly fragmented, communication is no longer simply an operational function, it’s infrastructure. That starts with leadership, leading by example.
Culture doesn’t happen accidentally when you’re spread out across the globe; it must be built intentionally.
We’re so grateful to CanadianSME’s She & Success series for the opportunity to share Kal’s perspectives on leadership, communication and culture. While technology will continue to evolve alongside the modern workplace, the conversation reinforced the belief that the leaderships skills that matter the most will remain deeply human through culture and connection.
